No-exam life insurance
Eligibility rules for expedited underwriting, its mechanics, and alternatives if it's not an option.
Numerous carriers have introduced expedited underwriting: for applicants in set age and amount brackets, carriers render decisions from your form, medication records, driving record and other sources, bypassing a physical exam. Approval sometimes happens within hours. This website lists for each offer whether an exam is required, likely, or unnecessary.
What it changes
Going without an exam does not skip review. Your statements get confirmed, and policies issued on false information are open to challenge within the first 24 months. The carrier may request further tests if its records turn up concerns; you're free to exit at that stage.
Who tends to qualify
Usually those under age 60-ish seeking coverage up to the carrier's limit for fast approval, without serious prior health issues and with no tobacco in the prior year. Some carriers will use recent medical records with lab results rather than ordering a fresh exam.
An exam, if required, usually takes 20–30 minutes with a paramedic at your choice of location in the San Marcos area, at zero cost. For healthy applicants, results can actually bring a rate upgrade, making an exam less of a drawback.
